DETERMINING YOUR RING SIZE
Buying jewellery online can seem difficult, however it’s easier than you think! To help you determine your ring size, we have included several tools below and a conversion chart if you need it as the systems for ring sizing vary around the world.
Depending on where in the world you are from, ring sizes can be expressed in letters or numbers or it could be in diameter or circumference measurements and some systems add quarter and half sizes…just to confuse everyone.
At Crowded Silver we use two scales, the alphabetical scale, which is the UK/Australian way, and in brackets the numerical scale, which is the US way. If you use one of the other systems, you can use the conversion chart below as a guide to find the closest size in our scale.

CONSIDERATIONS BEFORE SIZING
If you don’t know your ring size, there are a couple of things to consider before measuring your finger.
Hands are often affected by factors such as time of day and the weather. On hot days our fingers can swell slightly and rings can be difficult to get on and off whereas they may feel loose on cold days. Generally it is recommended to measure your finger towards the end of the day when it tends to be at its largest and avoid doing it in the morning or when it is cold. The variation can be a whole ring size. You also need to consider the width of the ring band and if it is a wide band, you should allow for a larger size, anything from a half to a full size extra.

Our ring sizer is a little plastic strap which you slide over our finger and adjust in size until you get a comfortable fit for a ring. If you want us to send you a ring sizer, then fill in the form below and we will post it to you for free within 1-2 days.
FIND YOUR RING SIZE
If you want to buy a silver ring online and already know your ring size, but use a different sizing system, then refer to our conversion chart to find the comparable size for your purchase.
If you don’t know your ring size, then your method depends on whether you have another ring to measure or not.
Remember that these methods are not 100% accurate (See Considerations before sizing). For better peace of mind, get our ring sizer sent to you, but don’t worry if you do get the size wrong, you can return it within 14 days for a refund or exchange as per our Return Policy.

- If you do have a ring that fits well, you can either
- Measure the diameter across the inside of the ring in millimetres and find the nearest measurement on our chart and see what size this corresponds to. When in doubt between two sizes, it is safer to go up in size rather than down.
- Print out our sizing guide and measure the inside of your ring against the diagram.
- If you don’t have a ring to measure, you can either
- Cut a strip of thick paper and wrap it around your finger. Mark it where it meets and then measure it to find its length. This will give you the circumference of your finger which you can match up with our conversion chart. Remember that the ring must be loose enough to slide over your knuckle but firm enough to not slide off your finger.
- Print out our sizing guide and cut out the ring sizer.
- If buying a ring as a surprise for someone, you can either
- Try and access a ring you know fits her and measure the diameter across the inside of the ring in millimetres and find the nearest measurement on our chart and see what size this corresponds to. When in doubt between two sizes, it is safer to go up in size rather than down.
- or with access to her ring slide the ring over a candle as far as it will go and mark on the candle where it stops and then measure the circumference in millimetres. Now compare this measurement with our conversion chart to find the nearest size….or if still not possible…
